categories crashes program

hi, new to this but bought phpauction-ep source code, under admin whenever i tried to add new category with add box, when i click on make changes, framed window goes to 404 error and the entire site goes to 404 error for about 15 minutes and nothing gets added to categories, even tried editing categories text under admin folder and clicked on start under categories tree and still got a 404 error with no categories added. thanks :oops:

I think the best thing to do is contact support, and Gian or someone there will be abe to fix the problem.......

Gian has been great help in past, kinda didn't want to bother him, searched there faqs didn't find much help there

actually catagories did change they disapeard :twisted:

I have the same problem....please let me know when there is a fix.

The interesting thing is that I never used to have this problem. I could upgrade catergories tables as and when i wished. however, more recently it has started happening.....please let me know when gian has a fix!

This sounds like your database is corrupted........

IF you ever restore from a backup to the database and DO NOT
delete the database FIRST, you wil wind up with DUPLICATE entries
all over the database. It gets quite messy!!

Check the database for DUPS...

Created categories on note pad.
Deleted existing categories in Admin/categories.txt
Copied and pasted note pad to Admin/categories.txt.
Goto Admin Back-end after and click start under New Categories Tree.
The Categories Table should be set up.

Not sure why the 404 error...
Could be your cmod setting? Should be on 777.

With the help section had to delete all the existing sections and start from scratch.
